Join me for a day of supervision and reflective practice on working therapeutically outdoors with client based in the beauitful and ancient setting of Shining Cliff woods in Derbyshire.

The day is suitable for new and established outdoor practitioners. This is a facilitated peer group with a maximum of 8 participants. There will be opportunities to share challenges, gain resources and explore experiences with other outdoor practitioners.

We will work mainly outdoors in this woodland setting which has footpaths, rivers, a lake, firepits and cliffs that offer much to our inner landscape and reflective experience. We will have access to the comfortable well-equipped Shining Cliff hostel for lunch and break times.

A simple soup lunch will be provided. The aim is to feel nourished, resourced and affirmed in your outdoor work.

£95 for the day 10-4

Please note this is not a training day for developing outdoor practice

About me:

I have worked in nature-based activities with individuals and groups since 2006. I have witnessed at first hand the huge benefits from working with and in nature. I understand the importance of working safely, ethically and respectfully within a natural environment. I also acknowledge the importance of being supported and connected with others in this way of working which can at times feel isolated.

My outdoor therapy training has been with Hayley Marshall and the late Martin Jordan at the Centre for Natural Reflections. I am supervised by Hayley and maintain regular seasonal links with this space.

I supervise practitioners across the country who have outdoor or nature based training and/or have experience of working therapeutically outdoors or with nature.

Topics I cover are: taking clients outside for the first time, confidentiality, ethical considerations, how to assess client suitability, contracting and risk assessment, embodied working, contact with nature. And any other nature-based working related issues you might want to bring.

I also bring my interest in spirituality into my work and I supervise those who work with spirituality as a focus in their work - or would like to. I continue to develop my own spiritual practice and understand the links between spirituality, a sense of well-being and, for me personally, a link to nature. I hold a Masters in Contemporary Religion with a focus on spiritual practice and more recently completed a Diploma in Practical Spirituality and Wellness with William Bloom at the Spiritual Companions Trust.
