This is a fantastic way to get started in the field of Ecotherapy.
In this course participants will develop an understanding of the field of ecotherapy in its social and historical context, identifying the forces of colonization and their impact on our relationship with the natural world and with healing. Participants will examine the effects of the coinciding crises of violence against BIPOC, environmental racism/devastation, and Covid-19 on themselves and the people they serve. Participants will explore logistical and clinical considerations for outdoor work and learn to apply a variety of indoor and outdoor ecotherapy interventions.
Participants will be able to identify the potential challenges and benefits of outdoor work on the therapeutic relationship. Participants will be encouraged to draw upon their cultural/ancestral ways of connecting with the natural world as they learn to facilitate nature based therapeutic practices. Participants will explore these concepts through reading and reflection as well as experiential practices and written assignments.
MORE THAN EVER, PEOPLE ARE NEEDING GUIDANCE TO HEAL AND DEEPEN THEIR CONNECTION WITH NATURE. Learn practical skills for how to practice ecotherapy indoors and out, understand how to transition clients and groups outdoors, engage in dialogue with other therapists around the world and develop a community of earth-honoring peers. Course includes: seven weekly 90 minute online classes, webinars, current ecotherapy articles, assignments for integration, 30 minute individual consultation, and 20 CEs.
